You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

“Lovely Hotel, made extremely welcome by Diane. Little kitchen available to use and bread and milk to make complementary toast tea and cereals. Room clean and kettle with refreshments. Hotel attached to a fabulous bar/restaurant
'Knowledge' where we had beautiful meal and drinks. The hotel is within walking distance to Sunderland centre with shops and The Stadium of Light for the football. Our second stay, and definitely not our last ❤️”
Everything you could wish for, have now stayed three times and will continue to do so.Rooms are excellent, well furnished
and very clean.Only downside at the moment is roadworks outside the hotel which have been apparent since our first visit with no sign of work being finished, fortunately this did not affect our visit, apart from the fact it was a waste booking a sea view room.
Everything about this lovely hotel is excellent
Staff, food, accomadation, the whole job lot is five star!!
Its comfy quiet and immaculate.
Parking secure, and the best night sleep iv had in a while, the staff and management have everything on balance the standards are exceptional, made our first time to sunderland very pleasurable we will BE BACK!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hotel was lovely. The menu and food were great and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly.
The room was large and the bed was extremely comfortable. Despite two parties going on that night we weren't disturbed by noise at all and slept really well ☺️
This is our second visit to the Roker Hotel. This time, we stayed in one of the Junior Suites and it was amazing. Lovely, spacious, and the huge spa bath was luxurious. Lovely bar and restaurant too, and all in a perfect location.
The owner of the property is exceptional. He attends and replies so quickly to all of our queries. Even those that are beyond her scope already.
The property itself is close to city centre and has a decent neighborhood.
Beautiful hotel, spotless clean. Fantastic host. Lovely breakfast and if you book the deluxe suite you get the bonus of a sea view. The bed was so comfy. Will not stay anywhere else again when visiting Sunderland.
My family stayed here whilst visiting with us in Sunderland, they rated the hotel very highly for everything. We have stayed here loads of times and always recommend it to others.
the decor was way above standard, by far the most homely hotel I’ve stayed in, it’s a must for people travelling to Sunderland wanting to be located next to the beach
The location was great, just a stone throw from the city centre. The shower's water pressure was fab and the bed was comfy. It met our needs for what we paid.
This house was beautiful couldn’t have picked anything better. The location was brilliant. Right in the city centre. Don’t bother with a hotel get this house.
