I was sent to live outside in a dorm
Like space. Scary and horrible. I demanded more and was moved

Wigan has always been a decent night out, we had arrived a little bit too late to go out into the city centre, so we decided to just get our head down and have an early-ish night, getting into the room, I noticed that somebody had been sick quite recently on the carpet of the room we were staying in as it still hadn’t been cleaned up, I would definitely think about not staying in that accommodation like this again

The place I lived in for the first 30 years of my life till 41 years ago is a depressing town to walk around that is losing its character to yet another go at modern development. Too many derelict shuttered buildings. The only town with a bypass that runs through the centre of it!

Wigan is under redevelopment at present, a reaction I suppose to the changing shopping habits of people. The town is no better or worse than many others I visit, but it does look like Wigan has taken action to reintroduce housing to the town centre which should bring with it a shopping and eating revival. My access to restaurants was limited as I arrived on a Tuesday. I was recommended a particular restaurant as being one of the best in the town. It was fine and the staff were wonderful, but I wasn't told when I booked (in person) that the only option was the pre-fixe menu, the a la carte wasn't available on Tuesday. I was there to meet with friends so the overall ambience of the town was less important, but I feel that Wigan is a town that isn't there yet but is trying to get there and will be a great place to visit when the redevelopment is complete.

We stayed in room 26 and the people in the room above were noisy all night - had no sleep so checked out at 5.30am - reported noise to night porter he said they’d been in and out all night have cigarettes. He said he’s done a walk about check at 5am and he could hear them being noisy but did nothing about it - had a 4 hour drive after having no sleep - I would request a full refund
Firstly, I'd like to thank Rachel for her understanding and consideration when circumstances meant we need to stay longer than check out. I was much appreciated to have somewhere to stay.
Regarding the accommodation, it was clean, comfortable, and welcoming.
Nice quality sofas, comfy clean beds. Plenty space.
Parking was available on road. Area was quiet and very central (5 mins for town centre). Bus stops at end of road as well as a coop for essentials.
Everything, very clean and modern, even tea and coffee towels left for us 👍 would stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family. Ideal for going to watch Manchester United play, 30 mins from the football stadium by car, or 5 min walk to the train station, and city centre 👍 night life looks good if that's your thing, or a nice chilled evening in w/spoons 👍
At the age of 70, I wouldn't normally have stayed over a pub with live music. However, the critical illness of a family member left me no choice, especially as Premier Inn had increased their prices to £175.50. The staff of the Charles Dickens couldn't have been kinder or more compassionate. I will remember them with gratitude.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and warm, it is a 25 minute walk to Wigan centre though buses do pass by. It is in a nice area with a restaurant and another nice pub nearby. My only small complaint is the price perhaps it could be a little cheaper.
Hotel looked tired. I was put in a room in an alcove next to the entrance and it was very noisy. Unimpressed. Room needed a refurb. Certainly needs downgrading a star. No where near as good as Wrightington Country Club.
Friendly staff, great location, spacious and very neat and tidy rooms, lovely decor, amazing spa, loved the breakfast, overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, I will definitely be back when in this area again
2 out of 8 members of stuff where smiling. Rest was very miserable, same as whole place. Nice area around the hotel apart from horrible strong smell of poo coming from local fields. Rooms and bathroom was clean.
A+++
An excellent hotel, and extremely convenient being only two minutes outside of Wigan town centre.
All facilities are available, and the rooms are very comfortable with a variety of size and option.
Working in area over summer. Stayed at nearby motels and this was far better. Cheaper, in far better nick than one other nearby motel, and price included a good breakfast.
Stuff is very friendly and room is clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Location is very good and quiet, city centre is ~10 minutes away with a car.
